A Word From The Headmaster

February 2009

Dear Westminster Academy Parents,

It is re-enrollment time and we invite you to again be a part of the Westminster Academy community. Re-enrollment information and packets are available online for your convenience. We consider it a privilege and honor to co-labor with parents in the training and nurture of their children. We firmly believe that our educational and instructional programs are a part of God’s Great Commission to make disciples and send them out into the world to share the good news of the Gospel in all areas and vocations. We greatly appreciate the wonderful job that you as parents have done to help make the Westminster Community one of the finest educational institutions in the country. You recently received the latest addition of the PawPrint which highlights some of the achievements of individuals and groups in the school.

1. The Class of 2008 received scholarship offers of over $5,850,000 and 78% of those seniors qualified to receive a Bright Futures Scholarship.

2. Students who took the highly competitive Advanced Placement Exams passed with a 73% success rate. The national average is 59%.

3. Eighteen students in the middle and high schools qualified to participate in the All-County Orchestra programs.

4. Twenty-three middle and high school students were chosen by a panel of judges to participate in the All-State Choir. In order to qualify they had to pass a music theory test, sight-reading test, and a vocal audition. Four students were selected to perform with the National Honor Choir.

5. Our Robotics Team earned a second place finish at Mission Mayhem, a FIRST Robotics Competition, held at Stranahan High School. The competition included 16 teams, five nationally acclaimed.

6. Our students participated in mission trips to Haiti, Honduras, and South Africa.

7. Westminster Academy was awarded a new five-year accreditation status from SACS (AdvancED), Florida Council of Independent Schools, Florida Kindergarten Council, Christian Schools of Florida, and the Commission on International and Transregional Accreditation.

8. The boy’s track team completed a perfect 11-0 season with a state championship.

These are just a few of many accomplishments by our students and staff members. Most significant, however, is the ongoing outreach of our students and staff on a local, state, national, and international scale. God is using our community of people to shine brightly wherever they go. We desire to honor Jesus by producing Godly young men and women who know, love, and serve Him faithfully. We also desire to prepare students to go out into a hostile world as confident, wise, discerning people who are equipped to lead boldly and confidently for Christ. Thank you for entrusting your children to us. We look forward to serving and ministering together with you again in the 2009-10 school year.

Cordially,

LeRoy P. Schwab
Interim Headmaster
