A Word from Dr. Orsino

Dear WA Community,

Dr. Leo Orsino

One of the many responsibilities of a headmaster
and our school leaders is to oversee the prayerful
assessment of school personnel, programs and
resources. Prayerful assessment takes a lot of
research, analysis, discussion and thoughtful
discernment. At WA we use a team approach to
prayerfully review all of these areas as we seek
God's leading to make wise and prudent decisions for our school ministry.

As we look ahead toward next year, we need to facilitate a few
changes that will impact personnel. Currently we have close to 190
full and part-time faculty, staff and coaches. We are truly blessed by
these dedicated, Christ-honoring professionals; however, given our
stewardship responsibilities, we will need to consolidate ten to
fifteen of these positions for the 2010-2011 school year. The
consolidation process will impact mainly administration and staff.

There are two administrative positions that will be consolidated for
next year. The two administrators who are impacted by the
consolidation process are Mr. LeRoy Schwab and Mrs. Penny Beal.
Mr. Schwab has served WA for 39 years since our inception, and
Mrs. Beal has served for 21 years. They will continue to be a part of
our ministry throughout this school year and serve in their current
positions. If there are teaching opportunities, Mrs. Beal is prayerfully
considering the possibility of returning to the classroom as a full-time
upper school faculty member for the 2010-2011 school year. Mr.
Schwab will be prayerfully seeking new opportunities beyond WA.
The decision to consolidate these positions has nothing to do with
their performance. On the contrary, they have been outstanding
leaders at WA.

As part of the consolidation plan for the 2010-2011 school year, I will
be serving as both the headmaster and the upper school principal
for grades 6 through 12. Mr. Mike Critch will serve as the dean of
students for the upper school. Mr. Critch and I will work closely together with the Student Services Department to provide the same
Christ-centered educational services and programs you have come
to expect in the upper school for the 2010-2011 school year.

Whenever a school ministry goes through a consolidation process, it
is a challenging and difficult time. The love and respect that we have
for one another makes this process even more difficult than secular
organizations.

In addition to this consolidation there is another personnel
announcement. Mr. Guy Metzger has decided to retire after 36 years
of service. We are extremely grateful for his remarkable Christhonoring
work at WA.

Please join me in thanking Mr. Schwab, Mrs. Beal and Mr. Metzger
for using their gifts and talents for God's Kingdom work at
Westminster Academy®. They have impacted so many students
and parents for Christ during their tenure at WA. Please continue to
pray for them and their families especially during this transition
process.

Please continue to be in prayer as we move forward with the
consolidation process. Please let me know if you have any
questions or need additional information.

Prayerfully submitted in the Name of Jesus Christ,

Convocation Student Prayer
