The personal counselor meets with individual students and groups in a confidential setting to discuss emotional, spiritual, social, or academic concerns. When and if necessary, a referral is made to a community agency or individual therapist. The counselor is also a resource to parents and teachers for consultation. Lastly, the school counselor visits classes to interactively discuss a variety of topics, such as alcohol and drug abuse, stress and anxiety, interpersonal skills, and decision making skills.
