Dr. D. James Kennedy's retirement as the Senior Pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church was announced on August 26, 2007. Dr. Kennedy preached his last sermon on Christmas Eve Sunday, 2006. While hindered by persistent health problems that included asthma, as well as chronic and often severe pain from compressed vertebrae due to an injury suffered as a young man, he was indefatigable in his ministry work. He suffered a cardiac arrest on December 28, 2006, and passed away on September 5th. Dr. Kennedy's moral leadership and his legacy of impacting the globe for Jesus Christ has been an inspiration for Westminster students. It is our desire to honor him by sustaining and multiplying his impact through Westminster Academy®.

You are invited to make a contribution to this ministry as a tribute to this dynamic man of God. Two tribute funds have been established in his honor:

The Dr. D. James Kennedy Memorial Fund

• Your support of the Dr. D. James Kennedy Memorial Fund provides vital resources to advance the School. Faculty development, classroom technology, guidance/college services, facility improvements and enhancements to the educational experience are all made possible, in part, by gifts to the Dr. D. James Kennedy Memorial Fund.

• Donations will ensure that this Christ-centered, biblically based education will continue to service our covenant families to the standard that Dr. Kennedy has given to this ministry.

Dr. D. James Kennedy founded Westminster Academy® in 1971. Our students have been prepared and equipped to change the world for Christ in their professions, in ministry and in their homes. Today Dr. Kennedy's legacy lives on in the lives of our students and graduates as more than 2,500 alumni are sharing the bright light of the Gospel.

"Every Christian parent wants the best Christian education for his child. When our daughter Jennifer reached school age, my wife and I faced this same problem. I founded Westminster Academy® in order that Jennifer and many other children could receive an education that not only gave them the best academic training, but also gave them a Christian and spiritual education as well. I have been more than pleased with the way that Westminster Academy® has over the years, fulfilled these two goals."

The Dr. D. James Kennedy Scholarship Fund

• Donations to this memorial fund will continue to expand the Dr. D. James Scholarship for Academic and Spiritual Excellence for students who exemplify academic excellence and spiritual vitality, character qualities for which Dr. Kennedy is known throughout the world. Funding is provided to students who would not otherwise be able to afford a Christian education.

• All memorial gifts made to Westminster Academy® in honor of Dr. D. James Kennedy will be listed in our Annual Report and a letter acknowledging each gift will be personally sent to Mrs. Kennedy.

"We at Westminster Academy® are wholly committed and motivated to continue Dr. Kennedy's legacy of imparting biblical truths to our students as they are prepared academically and spiritually to go into all the world as ambassadors for Christ."
